WEIGHT WATCHERS FISHER & PAYKEL 33 POSTCARDS

WEIGHT WATCHERS BRINGS BLOGS TO LIFE

FISHER & PAYKEL LOVES A MESS

33 POSTCARDS GETS MASSIVE RELEASE

The Design and VFX team at FSM has brought to life blogs written by the loved ones of people using Weight Watchers. Featuring 3D elements and a focus on detail the work brings the personality of every individual blogger into each ad.

"The trail of petals represents life, with 3D particle effects driving them along a path and a soft breeze giving them a fluid, effortless motion. The beauty of the ad is in the detail, with some petals hand animated to interact with real world elements" said FSM Head of 3D, Andreas Wanda.

To create the pearlescent paper thin petals, FSM animators made 3D layers that each represented a different quality of the petals and played with each layer until the composition was perfect.

Director Tom Noakes and Manual Pictures, through Clemenger BDDO brought FSM a great design opportunity with a series of commercials for Fisher & Paykel.

Fisher & Paykel understand that life isn't all sunshine and cocktails. It's messy, unpredictable and almost never works out exactly to plan. People don't fall in love with their ovens but they do fall in love with the experience of using them.

Kids don't fall in love with washing machines but they definitely fall in love with the fluffy friends they have to put inside them.

The two commercials offered an opportunity for a beautiful tonal colour grade and a chance to experiment with a range of type styles and animation.

Feature film drama 33 Postcards, starring Guy Pearce, is set to have one of the widest ever cinema releases for a local film in China, prior to showing in other countries.

The Australian-Chinese co-production will be shown on about 8000 screens according to NSW Minister for the Arts, George Souris. "33 Postcards will be released in every cinema in China - about 8000 screens - which means a massive audience in one of the world's largest cinema markets."

33 Postcards tells the tale of Chinese orphan Mei Mei (Zhu Lin) who dreams of meeting her Australian sponsor - Dean Randall (Pearce). At 16, when her orphanage travels to Australia to attend a choir festival, Mei Mei looks him up. What she finds is far from the idyllic life he depicted in his postcards.

The film is directed by Pauline Chan and produced by Portal Pictures.

Shot on Red, FSM was responsible for data management, full DI, titles and digital cinema release materials.
